Facilitation - Internal Consultants
When new methods of working or improvement teams are established, then Internal Consultants or Facilitators may be identified who can help individuals or teams with difficulties.
In this approach the introduction of new methods is given the support necessary for success and difficulties are treated as learning opportunities. The skills needed by facilitators are basically consultancy skills. They only provide support where required and must establish a customer focused relationship with teams or individuals needing their help.
In this context the role of facilitator is different from that of team leader, although the two terms are sometimes used inter-changeably.
