Project Management
Term used to describe the activity of managing the implementation of a plan.
First the plan must be developed such that the desired schedule and goals may be achieved, and then the plan is used to monitor implementation.
Within Walker Associates' Seven Management Tools Workshop, Arrow diagrams and PDPC are two tools which are used in the Project Management aspect of Planning.
First, arrow diagrams may be used to define the inter-related tasks and dependencies that exist and which must be managed for successful implementation. Next PDPC (Process Decision Programme Chart) is used to identify specific risks or undesired outcomes which might occur. Contingency plans are then developed to manage those undesired outcomes if they should arise.
Project Management comes within the Plan and Do steps of PDSA.
Walker Associates provides training for cross-functional teams working on improvement projects.
