Standardise, Do, Check, Act (SDCA)
SDCA or Standardise, Do, Check, Act is a special application of Plan, Do, Check, Act where the Plan step is associated with planning how to standardise on a new approach which has been found most effective.
SDCA is a term which occurs frequently in Japanese literature on quality and emphasises the importance of holding the gains by effectively standardising on approaches that have been proved to represent best practice.
The alternative of allowing many different approaches to one job results in increased levels of variation and makes subsequent problem solving in the area more difficult.
