Seven Q.C. Tools
The Seven Q.C. Tools were identified by the Japanese Union of Scientists and Engineers (JUSE) as the seven most important tools for use in Continuous Improvement. They are primarily associated with the Study and Act steps in the PDSA cycle.
The Seven Q.C. Tools are often used in conjunction with a step-by-step problem solving process known as the Q.C. Story.
Definition of the seven tools vary slightly with different writers, but they are defined by Professor Kaoru Ishikawa as follows.
1. Pareto Chart
2. Cause and Effect Diagram
3. Stratification
4. Check sheet
5. Histogram
6. Scatter Diagram
7. Graph and Control Chart
